It seems that whenever Microsoft mentions their upcoming Scorpio, they never fail to describe how much more powerful of a gaming beast it has become. Whether its claiming that its as powerful as gaming PCs or is the only console to feature “true 4K,” Microsoft is hyping up their revamped Xbox One to be the greatest thing in gaming since 3-dimensional polygons. Now, Mike Ybarra, the Corporate Vice President at Xbox has said that the Scorpio now has one more GB for developers to play with, making the Scorpio even more powerful than you can possibly imagine!
Microsoft was able to do this by reducing the number of RAM dedicated to systems operation from 4GB to 3GB. The Xbox Scorpio still has 12GB, but developers now have access to 9GB instead of 8GB. While this will allow developers to make their games smoother and more high-def, the extra RAM will be a boost to older games, using it as a cache to load faster.
This is great news for Xbox fans. The Xbox Scorpio has already outperformed the PS4 Pro in terms of raw power, something Microsoft was all too eager to point out in their latest teasers for the Xbox Scorpio.
The teasers also imply that the Xbox Scorpio will release sometime in October, although it won’t be confirmed until Microsoft’s Xbox press conference at E3 2017. It looks like the Scorpio will be the main event at Xbox’s E3 show, since, unfortunately, the system still doesn’t have very many console exclusives coming out anytime soon.
E3 2017 will be from June 13-15. Stay tuned to mxdwn Games for all the latest coverage.
