Publisher PLAION and developer Reikon Games have put out a release trailer confirming the launch date of their science-fiction first-person shooter METAL EDEN. Gematsu reports that the title is set for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on September 2.
The setting of METAL EDEN is Moebius, which is described as a colossal orbital city housing HIVE TOWER; Meant to be a new home for humanity. Moebius has become hostile, a ‘deadly trap’ orchestrated by the title’s enigmatic Engineers. Players assume the role of Aska, an android known as a “Hyper Unit.” She was created by the Engineer defector Nexus and serves as the protagonist of the game. Aska’s goal is to rescue the digitized consciousnesses of the human colonists and confront the Engineers.
In METAL EDEN players will dash, grapple and wall run through the INTERNAL DEFENCE CORPS. Metal Eden features transformations in that players can change into an ARMORED RAMBALL to take on machine foes. Air combat is included, players can utilize gravity hooks and a jetpack. Players will be able to explore the orbital city as well as the world below known as VULCAN. Enemy Mechs are diversified through toughness, agility and elemental forces each of which you’ll extract energy cores. Environments feature dynamic combat such as in the case of players destroying shields of the INTERNAL DEFENSE CORPS for a zone advantage.
TechRadar sat down with METAL EDEN’s Director Karol Wieczorkiewicz and he openly shared about METAL EDEN‘s influence “Of course, Doom (2016) was very important for us,but also Titanfall, with all the wall running and the quick movement options. We wanted to create this quicker, more aggressive, more vertical version of Doom.”
With METAL EDEN drawing on inspiration from the popular classic shooter subgenre and invoking the qualities of anime series such as Ghost in The Shell, the title may draw wide appeal. Well know how this all pans out for the Reikon Games come next month.
