Saviors of Uldum is the Newest Expansion for Hearthstone Releasing Worldwide August 6, 2019

Hearthstone just released details on its latest expansion Saviors of Uldum. The ever-growing card game will now have an additional 135 new cards that will be added to the 1,948 that can be collected by players. Not only that, the expansion will implement 2 new types of cards that will change the tide of battle along with additional quest cards. Best of all, the wait will be short for those who are excited to add some fresh additions to their deck and head over to the tavern.

The story after the last expansion Rise of Shadows continues in the latest installment Saviors of Uldum. Uldum was introduced in World of Warcraft: Cataclysm and carries a strong Egyptian theme around it. The sands of Uldum hide powerful Titan technology and the League of Evil along with the stolen, magical city of Dalaran are after it. The Saviors of Uldum naturally, are tasked to stop them from accomplishing their vile plans.

A new keyword “reborn” has been introduced to the cards. For example, if the Restless Mummy minion is destroyed it will return back to the playing field with 1 health remaining. This effect can only happen the first time the minion is destroyed. There is also a new spell type introduced called “plagues”. Although, these spells can only be used by the classes the represent the League of Evil being the Priest, Shaman, Warrior, Warlock, and Rogue. These spells will effect every minion on the board giving them a powerful result that may backfire if used nonchalantly. New quest cards have also been added. Quest cards give a player a task in the middle of a match when played. If at anytime the criteria is met, the player will be rewarded a substantial hero power. “Starting with Rise of Shadows, and now with Saviors of Uldum, we’re refining game mechanics and exploring new ideas that will add even more layers of depth and strategic decision-making to Hearthstone,” said J. Allen Brack, president of Blizzard Entertainment. “We think these new cards, as well as the return of fan-favorite heroes from the League of Explorers expansion, will continue making this the game’s most exciting and competitive year ever.” Below you can view the Saviors of Uldum press kit. More details and a closer look at the cards can be found on the official website.

Saviors of Uldum card packs are available now for pre-purchase. The 50-pack bundle, which is available for $49.99 includes a random golden Legendary card from the expansion and an Elise Starseeker themed card back. The $79.99 80-pack Mega Bundle contains those bonuses as well as a new Elise Starseeker Druid Hero.  Hearthstone Saviors of Uldum will launch on August 6, so you’d better start dusting off your decks and hitting the tavern. More info on the expansion should be released in the coming weeks.

Nathan Arquiette: Mom and Dad would never buy me a gaming console growing up, so I bought my own Dreamcast when I was 10 years old. Ever since then my passion for gaming went wild. Why watch a movie or read a book when you can take part in the plot playing a game was my philosophy. "Video games rot your brain" but I had a 10th grade reading level in the 6th grade all thanks to RPG's. Talking and writing about games is something I will never get tired of.
