Save Game Data Of The Witcher 3 Not Going To The Witcher 3 GOTY Edition

The open world RPG The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be made into a remake called The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Game of the Year Edition, which is currently set for release in the next couple of weeks. However, developer CD Projekt Red released something about the game that may upset gamers who currently own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt: save game files from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt cannot be transferred over to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Game of the Year Edition, according to Eurogamer. Marcin Momot, the community lead of CD Projekt Red relayed the message onto the game’s forum:

The save files on consoles won’t be compatible between different game versions (GOTY vs regular version) as they are treated by systems as separate products. This is something that’s not up to us. Sorry.

Momot also posted on Twitter that there will be a new achievements list for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Game of the Year:

However, it is believed that it won’t be as much of a problem as it seems, says Jeffrey Matulef of EurogamerThe Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Game of the Year Edition is meant for newcomers, but for die hard fans of the series and players who have already traded back their copy of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, it is something that needs to be kept in mind when deciding whether it is worth it to buy The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Game of the Year Edition since they will have to start over from the very beginning.

The Witcher 3: Wildhunt – Game of the Year Edition will come with 16 free DLCs, which includes new finishing move animations, new outfits, new quests, new types of armor, among others. Two expansion packs have already been released: The Witcher 3: Wildhunt – Hearts of Stone and The Witcher 3: Wildhunt – Blood and Wine.

The Witcher 3: Wildhunt – Game of the Year Edition will be released on August 30 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
