Today, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. announced the launch of Samsung Game Portal which would be an online store specifically for Samsung gaming properties. The website is set to drop in more than thirty countries, beginning with a couple of nations getting it in June of this year.
Starting with Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, United Kingdom, and the United States, the Game Portal will be an online store that improves the convenience of purchasing electronic products for gamers. Items such as television screens, computer monitors, smartphones, and solid-state drives will be up on the site for sale. In addition, the Game Portal will include fine-tuned gaming related content catered to various preferences and experiences.
Leading global professional services company, Accenture, releases a study surrounding gaming back in 2021. The study stated that half of the gaming community uses more than one device to play video games, making fifty percent of them cross-platform gamers. The study also found that the average gamer typically spends about sixteen hours playing games, eight hours consuming gaming video content, and six hours interacting with other gaming communities all in one week.
Upon seeing these reports, Samsung saw it fit to design the Game Portal to accommodate gamers according to these findings. The site would be efficient in providing a variety of products like “gaming product information, domestic and international expert reviews, product purchase benefits and offers, product utilization ideas” to improve gameplay, and more.
Evelyn Kim, Executive Vice President of the D2C Center at Samsung Electronics, said, “Gaming has become an important part of consumers’ lifestyle, not just entertainment, especially for Millennials and Gen Z. We will implement various initiatives to provide customers with a superior gaming experience, from purchase to use, by providing an environment that makes it enjoyable and easy to purchase gaming-related products.”
Some notable products that will be listed on Game Portal are the Galaxy S23 Ultra, a smartphone optimized for high-performance mobile gaming applications; the Neo QLED TV that allows cloud gaming through the Samsung Gaming Hub; and the Odyssey OLED G9 monitor that has a curved, forty-nine-inch screen.
