After giving us one of the greatest surprises in recent memory at The Game Awards, we’ve had some time to cool down and re evaluate the absolute bombshell that was the Alan Wake 2 reveal. Easily one of the best moments from that night, Remedy Entertainment’s Sam Lake appeared to personally deliver unto us the amazing news, Alan Wake was finally back. Since then the fan base has been clamoring for some more information, with the most prominent being how the game will be played. Sam Lake went to Twitter himself to quell these worries and ensured that the title will feature the series’ trademark third person shooter style.
Thank you for being as excited about Alan Wake 2 as we are ❤️🔥🔦. A couple of easy clarifications before we go dark to continue the work. Yes, this is a 3rd person game. Yes, both Ilkka Villi and Matthew Porretta return in the role of Alan Wake. #AlanWake @alanwake @remedygames pic.twitter.com/8UvzXGgKdE

In addition, Lake also revealed that two key members of the previous entry will be making their grand return to the sequel. Ilkka Villi and Matthew Porretta were both confirmed by Lake to be reprising their roles as Alan Wake. Villi serves as the main motion capture performer while Poretta is the voice actor for the troubled writer. Both of these talents are already very familiar with the titular character, and it’s amazing to see them both return to the fold.
As for what the game’s plot will entail, it’s anyone’s guess as the ending of the previous entry left players in question as to Alan Wake’s fate. Still, it’s been a long time coming, and it looks like Sam Lake and company are doing everything they can to preserve the dark and suspenseful nature of the series. Alan Wake is back, both of them in this case, and we can’t wait for 2023.
