Saints Row: The Third Remastered Announced For PC, PS4, Xbox One; Coming Next Month

Today, Deep Silver announced Saints Row: The Third Remastered for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The remaster of the third game in the Saints Row franchise includes enhanced graphics, visual effects, and textures. Every gun has been remodeled and every car has been redesigned. In addition, all three expansion mission packs and more than 30 pieces of DLC have been included in the game. The game will include online co-op and the console versions run at 30 FPS while the PC version will run at 60. The game is being developed by Volition who made the original game and Spearsoft who is the studio behind the port. Saints Row: The Third Remastered releases on May 22, 2020.

Speaking about why the third game in the Saints Row franchise is getting remastered and not the others, Nikolay Stoyanov, Koch Media Lead Art Director said: We think of Saints Row: The Third as a masterpiece, and from our point of view, it’s where the series really found itself. When we went back into this game, we had one major consideration, and it was that we really wanted to bring that [game] back in a particular way, and not just as a simple remaster with 4k support. It had to have modernized graphics and technologies, to pump up that engine to make it more interesting.”

In an interview with GameSpot, Art Director Frank Marquart talked about how the updated graphics helps enhance Saints Row: The Third. “On the art-side, we call that art-style in the game “exagereal”, and it was designed to evoke that exaggerated, over-the-top expression with just enough of reality to keep it grounded. So that real part of “exagereal” is certainly much, much stronger in the Remastered edition. When it comes to the surfaces, the lighting, it’s all enhanced. Just seeing Steelport in this new edition is exciting. It really looks great, and it’s exciting to see.”

While Saints Row: The Third Remastered is coming soon, Volition has been hard at work on the next Saints Row game with an announcement expected to come in 2020.
