The Rusty Lake series is an… interesting one. With relative atmospheric likeness to that of the 90’s cult classic show Twin Peaks, in all of its oddness. And the Rusty Lake series, developed by Rusty Lake, has been going on for four years now. It started off as the Cube Escape series, which were small one-shots. It wasn’t until the Rusty Lake games that delved deeper into the games lore and understanding. The series is bizarre, a little spooky, and overall… unsettling.
But with the four year anniversary having happened, developers Rusty Lake wanted to show off a little something that they had been working on since the last installment. Namely, their next project:
It is described as a “secret” Rusty Lake project. But it still definitely sets the scene of what might come. The figure at the end is a bit of a hint. He’s shown up before, both in Cube Escape: Case 23 in the elevator:
And in Rusty Lake: Roots, as one of the main characters that players learn about. And given in the trailer he’s holding up what appears to be two dolls, and the same character from Roots had also done the same, it’s a good hint as to who it’s leaning towards. As there was no hint of what this one would be about. The only thing else to mention, is the black box. Or… black eye? Whatever it is, it seems to be alive and could be the key to this next adventure.
Other than the teaser, there is no information about the upcoming Rusty Lake project.
