A new entry in the RuneScape universe has been announced, RunScape: Dragonwild, following the release of two brand new videos from the game’s England based development team Jagex. The title will be released in Steam’s Early Access program and is slated for a spring release, per a report at Gematsu.
RuneScape: Dragonwilds is set on the forgotten continent of Ashenfall. Players will assume the role of one of four players and cooperatively gather, build and craft with the goal that they may hope to slay the Dragon Queen.
In the Gematsu report, Jagex CEO Jon Bellamy had this to say about RuneScape: Dragonwilds “From the very beginning, community feedback has been at the heart of RuneScape: Dragonwilds. We’ve already conducted closed alpha tests with some of our closest community members, and we’ll be listening to player feedback when building the game throughout Early Access. We’ve built an entirely new team filled with industry veterans who are focused on making sure that RuneScape: Dragonwilds sits naturally within the RuneScape franchise, and a game that is loved by both our biggest RuneScape fans and entirely new players alike.”
In RuneScape: Dragonwilds you’ll prepare potions, craft gear, and level up to do battle on the continent. Players will undertake quest and level skills. The continent of Ashenfall is shaped by player feedback dating back to alpha 1.0.
The development team is eager to show off their work, and based on the Q and A Video it appears that their push is for a cooperative style game with a strong narrative based setting. Base building and gear crafting seem to be the name of the game here as well. The promise is that we won’t have to wait much longer for the game as it is set for release this season and more news may be on its way.
