Rumor: Grand Theft Auto VI Might Release As Early As Next Year

Grand Theft Auto VI is still underway with it’s development cycle, which we can imagine, is a monumental task to say the least. The game is arguably one of the most anticipated titles in history, and we figured it was going to be a while until we heard about a potential release date, let alone a release time frame. In a new financial earnings report, which was also reported by IGN, Take-Two shared their forecasting revenue for the fiscal years of 2025 and 2026 (April 2024 and 2025), which includes a “massive projection” of earnings. A bold expectation of this magnitude has stirred a frenzy with the internet, as everyone is now speculating that Grand Theft Auto VI could launch as early as April 2024.

This speculation also reached the ears of investors on Wall Street. After this financial report came out, Take Two’s stock shares skyrocketed roughly 12% up from their usual statistic. This brought their shares up at nearly $140 per stock, a whopping 20% gain on a year to date comparison. Those numbers will more than likely drop as things calm down on the market floor, but the fact that Grand Theft Auto VI’s release time frame might be coming in early 2024 caused such an uptick on the trading floor speaks volumes to how much influence the franchise has in the video game industry.

It also helps that Take Two expects to intake “over $8 billion in Net Bookings and over $1 billion in Adjusted Unrestricted Operating Cash Flow.” What this essentially means that the company expects to have a lot of different contracts that will benefit them in a financial situation with an exponential gain, and with those numbers being thrown around in that aspect, there’ no wonder that people thing Grand Theft Auto VI is going to release around that time. When Grand Theft Auto V launched in 2013, it wasn’t just a successful launch of a title, it was successful launch a of a multimedia franchise. With the newest entry being held in a similar regard, Take Two is already counting their earnings in what will more than likely set a new precedent in how much money a company can make off of a video game launch.
