Blizzard Entertainment’s BlizzConline is set to take place just little over a day now and anticipation is fairly high to say the least. Rumors have been circulating around the internet long beforehand with some “leaks” being thrown out in a tweet here and there. One of the more significant rumors is the supposed remake of Diablo II, Diablo II: Resurrected, which has been a major talking point for the better part of a few years. According to well known Blizzard leaker Metro, we might finally see the remake officially announced tomorrow as well as a couple of other reveals.
As you can see in the tweet above, Metro is essentially stating that the Opening Ceremony for tomorrow’s event is not going to be as exciting as they normally are. While this is a bit upsetting, Diablo II remaster is in the description. We already know that the company has been working on the remaster for a period of time. We also know that the company’s recent acquisition of Vicarious Visions was mainly due to the fact that the studio was given the task of continuing the project sometime in 2020, with the supervision of the Diablo IV team.
With all of this taking place beforehand, it’s more than likely that Blizzard will, at long last, finally announced the game during the Opening Ceremony tomorrow. Fans have been clamoring for a true remake from Blizzard for years, and we won’t be waiting long to find out if Blizzard will make their dreams come true. Diablo II is of course is the revered, legendary, and one of the most popular PC games in history, and is often considered to be one of the greatest video games of all time. The original release, albeit with some updates, is still played to this day almost 21 years after it launched in 2000.
As for the rest of BlizzConline, we also know what will probably not get any release dates during tomorrow’s Opening Ceremony. While we may get an update on the development for both projects, Diablo IV and Overwatch 2 are not expected to launch anytime this year. With little to no updates on Heroes of the Storm, and literally no more major content for the StarCraft series, the only other big franchises to look forward to are World of Warcraft and Hearthstone. It’s possible that Blizzard will throw some surprises at us, but we’ll just have to wait and see for ourselves what they have in store for us.
BlizzConline will take place from Friday to Saturday, February 19-20. The Opening Ceremony is scheduled to start at 2:00 PM PST/5:00 PM EST. The entire show will be free to watch, and you can check out the schedule here.
