It looks like the potential release time frame for the highly anticipated Alan Wake 2 might have just accidentally leaked. While appearing on a YouTube Podcast show called Monsters, Madness, and Magic, the voice actor for Alan Wake, Matthew Porretta, let it slip that the title is “supposed to come out in October.” While we already knew that Alan Wake had a 2023 release, we just weren’t sure about the actual release date. If Porretta’s words deem to be true, then the title will launch sometime in the month of October.
It’s important to note that while Poretta does voice the most important character in the franchise, he is still considered an outside talent. Therefore, anything he says is generally not considered to be on behalf of Remedy, which means that this time frame might be inaccurate or completely old information. Remedy themselves have not commented on Poretta’s words from the podcast, and it’s more than likely that they never will. Poretta also mentioned that he was “just in Finland last week, that’s where the company is from… Remedy, they’re amazing people.” It’s possible that Poretta was doing some last-minute work on the title, which would make sense as it was reported last month that the title was in the “last major phase of full production.”
Alan Wake 2 was initially revealed during The Game Awards 2021, over decade after the original launched in 2010. It was later confirmed by Remedy Entertainment Creative Director Sam Lake that the game will retain the signature third-person over-the-shoulder perspective. Lake also confirmed that Porretta would return to reprise his famous role. In May 2022, Remedy announced that the game would release sometime in 2023, and ever since then, fans have been eagerly awaiting a release date. Hopefully Remedy will unveil the launch date for the title soon. Alan Wake 2 will launch this year for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/Series S, and PC.
