A real-time strategy game is being published by Funcom and developed by Petroglyph Games, who is directing their work towards Conan the Barbarian. Conan Unconquered will be introduced by the same studio who has worked on several well-known titles including the remaster of Command & Conquer and Star Wars: Empire at War. The Steam Store shows the next installment of Conan to be coming out in the second quarter of 2019.
After several recent titles of the barbarian character such as Conan Exiles that were met with average reviews, Petroglyph is trying Conan’s luck in a strategy format. Conan Unconquered will require single or online cooperative players to build a stronghold and a massive army in order to “survive the savage hordes of Hyboria” through waves of ever-increasing difficult enemies. Like other strategy and management games, resources and defense technologies will need to be accumulated and researched in order to better prepare the stronghold for the next attack. Resource gathering will take into account food, gold, iron, and wood. While the gameplay will be in real-time, the developers make clear that the game can be paused in order to issue commands or construct new structures.
There is no set release date for Conan Unconquered. However, in response to a question by a Twitter user the game’s account responded that a sneak peek at what the gameplay will entail should be available at some point in 2019:
Sometime next year is all we can say for now 🙂

Conan Unconquered is designed to be both a single and online two-player experience. In multiplayer, both players will be sharing the same base and will both have the authority to construct and build their armies. Besides enemy hordes, the strongholds will have to deal with disease from corpses of previous battles and fires spreading. In the latter stages of enemy waves it will be vital that players utilize legendary heroes who can influence armies with special abilities, and these will include none other than Conan the Barbarian. At the very least, Conan Unconquered will be available on the Steam Store since other platform availability has not been announced.
