The award-winning RPG game Outer Worlds developed by Obsidian Games is finally getting an official release date for its port on the Nintendo Switch. The digital version of the game is available for pre-order on the game’s official website. The game is also available for pre-order via Nintendo’s online store, where players can find out more information about the game, file size, and publishers. The physical and digital versions of the game will be available for $59.99 upon the game’s release on June 5th. First launching for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC in October of last year, The Outer Worlds has received a number of gaming awards including Game of the Year at the New York Video Game Awards.
The Outer Worlds is an open-world action-RPG following the player who is lost in space aboard a colonist transportation ship. The page for the game on the Nintendo store describes the story, “lost in transit while on a colonist ship bound for the furthest edge of the galaxy, you awake decades later than you expected only to find yourself in the midst of a deep conspiracy threatening to destroy the Halcyon colony”. The game gives players the freedom to choose how they play the game, which could lead to a number of different endings, a trend commonly seen in RPGs like Bethesda’s Fallout series. In the game players also are able to explore the furthest reaches of space and interact with various factions that can influence the progression of the game, adding more freedom and choices for players. The announcement for the game’s Switch release also included a new screenshot taken from the Switch port of the game. Players can purchase and pre-load the game for Switch right now as they prepare for the game’s release on June 5th.
