Publisher Bandai Namco’s has announced their RPG sequel Tales of Xillia 2 is coming to North America in August 19th and Europe in August 22nd with a bonus-packed Collector’s Edition for $129.99 that will only be available for a short time and should be available for pre-order right now. You continue the game one year after the world-changing climax of Tales of Xillia, in which the worlds or Rieze Maxia and Elympios were brought together.
The next chapter of the Tales of series lets players continue the next game that is starring Ludger Will Kresnik, a chef from Trigleph city in Elympios, his brother Julius, a cat named Rollo and Elle Marta, a young girl traveling alone trying to carry out the last wish of her father. You will witness the events of the original Tales of Xillia, where two kingdoms were united after the destruction of the barrier between them, and see the events that has shaped the world.
As mentioned before, the two kingdoms are Elympios and Rieze Maxia, they are different from each other being that Elympios is a kingdom set in a more real world and modern environment, while Rieze Maxia has a completely different look and feel because of its own history and evolution. The game features a new choice system, which allows players to make the decisions on how to respond to situations, and that controls the story throughout the game.
Some other features that are included in the game is the ability to do weapon swaps, which will allow a character to switch between 3 different weapons. Another new thing coming to Xillia 2 will be that Ludger Will Kresnik has the ability to transform using his Chromatus ability, which will deal a massive amount of damage, but only will be able to access under certain parameters and for a short period.
“We changed the atmosphere to be a bit darker compared to the previous Tales of Xillia. In [the first game], the target audience is teenagers, 15-18, but for Tales of Xillia 2 our target audience is those who are older than 20 years old so we wanted to make a bit more mature and darker atmosphere.”
