This news comes from the r/pcgaming subreddit where one user, Turbostrider27 posted an article from DSOGaming that the developers of popular PlayStation 3 emulator, RPCS3 are working on a PlayStation 4 emulator
The creators of RPCS3 are working on Playstation 4 emulator

Already at the halfway point of this current console generation with the PlayStaion 5 and Xbox Series X/S, it feels like its only getting started. Almost 10 years ago the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 released back in November 2013 and since the release of the newer console generation, independent coders and developers are working togther to create and develop emulators for the previous consoles. Although these projects are at the early stages and won’t be done for a while, it crazy to think that soon the past consoles will be considered retro in another 5 years.
According to DSOgaming, they say in their article that the “emulator is in a very early development stage,” with heavy emphasis on the early development part, to the point of no PS4 games being able to boot. Currently, there are other PlayStation 4 emulators such as Spine, which is Linux-based emulator developed by one person, KYTY which is a PS4 and PS5 emulator, and GPCS4. All these emulators are currently in early development.
DSOGaming also links the Github project of RPCS3’s PlayStation 4 project, RPCSX, which is being developed by DH, one of the founders of the RPCS3 Project who, “is responsible for landing RPCS3’s code base foundations and for many enhancements afterward. He left the project in mid-2016 and started doing PlayStation 4-related research.” This research would lead to GitHub page of RPCS4, which doesn’t exist anymore, but by using the WayBack Machine there was something being developed back in 2017.
Fast forward to 2023, RPCSX is still very much in early development, and on their Github, they even state that the emulator can’t run any games yet and links a Dicord link to RPCSX’s server. This does not mean that RPSC3 will cease development. Like what user ObstructiveWalrus says in the Reddit thread, “Probably the only way we’ll ever get Bloodborne on PC.”
