Rocksteady Updates Batman: Arkham Knight With Two Free Skins More Than Five Years After It Launched

Rocksteady Studios has announced that Batman: Arkham Knight has received a free update that offers two costumes for the caped crusader. The two skins, the Anime Batman Skin and the Zur-En-Arrh skin, were previously only available to those who logged into the official game’s forums with WB Games account, but now they’re both available to everyone for absolutely nothing. While this would be standard for a studio to offer their remaining extras after a small time frame of having their title out, the real focus of this story is that Batman: Arkham Knight originally launched in June 2015, making it more than five years old.

So this begs the question, why did Rocksteady wait so long? While it’s more than likely that some people are still playing Batman: Arkham Knight, it’s hard to imagine that the same number of players have not dropped off in the past five years. This is even more evident as the first two games in the franchise, Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, are often considered two of the greatest superhero games of all time and have been re-released for modern systems on more than one occasion. Not to mention the unfortunate situation of the PC port of Batman: Arkham Knight, a port that was never truly fixed until home modders decided to do it themselves just this year.

Regardless of the timing with this update, the aforementioned skins are in fact available now for free. The Anime Batman Skin comes from one of the comic shorts in 2008, while the interestingly named Zur-En-Arrh skin is from a very old interpretation of Batman in 1958 in which Batman has superpowers like Superman. This was revitalized in 2006 for another comic story. You can claim both of these skins on whichever platform you prefer as Batman: Arkham Knight is available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
