Rocket League Rocket Pass 2 Announced

Rocket League is back at it again with Rocket Pass 2 starting tomorrow, December 10 at 10 AM PST. Psyonix announced on their website that the newest iteration of the Rocket Pass took in a lot of fan feedback in an attempt to make it bigger and better than ever. The most exciting addition is the inclusion of a brand new battle-car called the Artemis. While the car will only be available to players in the Premium Track, rest assured that the price of upgrading did not increase and will still cost 10 keys (or $9.99).

In addition to unveiling the new car, which you can check out in all its glory in the video above, players will unlock different versions of the car (at Tier 1, Tier 25 and Tier 70). Psyonix has also tweaked the Rocket Pass formula just a bit in order to make sure that unlocks for players are exciting and unique. The items awarded to players will be more varied and once a player reaches the Pro Tier (i.e. 71 and up) each item will be ‘Painted’ with a 25% chance to be ‘Certified’ as well. A new feature will be introduced for select items called ‘Special Edition,’ which is basically a cosmetic rework of an item to give it some extra flair. An example of  ‘Special Edition’ wheels can be seen below. One arguably negative change is that Premium Track items awarded in Tiers 1-70 cannot be traded, while items in Tier 71 on, as well as Free Track items, are fair game.

In preparation for the new Rocket Pass, Psyonix released patch for the game on December 3. Xbox One players can now enjoy Rocket League in 4K (assuming their television can handle the insanity) as well as HDR support. New music tracks and cosmetic flags have also been added, while changes to player experience progression have also been introduced. XP/second in Casual and Competitive playlists have received a 40% boost, and there are now new ways to garner points. Players will receive two points per every ball hit and an increased window in which weekly match bonuses are awarded (from two to three matches per day). Check out the full patch notes for more specifics on the additions and changes to the game.
