Rocket League Coming to Summer X Games; Rick and Morty DLC On The Way

Big news coming out of Psyonix today as the developer released a press release where they were able to reveal the news that their popular game Rocket League would be making its was to the Summer X Games. What is normally known as an ultimate sporting event will now, for the very first time, have a Rocket League tournament with a cash prize. The game will also be getting an awesome Rick and Morty DLC.

The tournament itself will have a pretty decent prize of $75,000 and will be awarded to the winner, obviously. The tournament will be streamed live on ESPN 3 between July 14th through the 16th, with the X games themselves running from July 13th through the 16th in Minnesota. The event itself will be like all other X Games previously with the only addition being a Rocket League tournament. This isn’t the first time the X Games has hosted a video game tournament, in previous years there has been a Halo, Call of Duty, and Counter Strike appearance.

In other, and quite frankly more important news, Rick and Morty will finally me making their way to a customization option near you.

Thanks to our friends at Adult Swim and Adult Swim Games, Rick and Morty (with friends in tow) will be available as FREE customization items starting on July 5. Rick and Morty will be available as Antennas, along with ‘Cromulon,’ ‘Mr. Meeseeks,’ and ‘Mr. PBH’ Toppers, an ‘Interdimensional GB’ Rocket Boost, and some familiar-looking ‘Sanchez DC-137’ Wheels. Bonus: the ‘Cromulon’ Topper can drop as a Painted item!

The free DLC will come into effect on July 5th and will be given out for free as the usual common drops from completing matches.
