Assemble Entertainment and solo developer Moral Anxiety Studio have brought Roadwarden to Nintendo Switch, giving players a chance to experience the award-winning text-based RPG on a new platform. Originally released on PC in September 2022, Roadwarden quickly earned critical acclaim for its unique blend of interactive fiction and role-playing design, and it now arrives on Switch for $10.99 with a 20 percent launch discount available for a limited time, according to a press release.

In Roadwarden, players step into the role of a lone adventurer hired by a merchant guild to explore a mysterious and hostile peninsula. The game challenges you to do more than just survive, asking you to guard travelers, fight creatures and undead, support isolated communities, and uncover hidden truths scattered throughout a 30-hour campaign. The narrative-driven journey is built around branching storylines, moral dilemmas, and survival mechanics that require careful management of health, time, nourishment, and scarce resources. Every choice has weight, shaping both your character and the world around you.

Before setting out, you can choose your adventurer’s background and class, with warrior, mage, and scholar each offering their own unique abilities and personality traits. That decision ripples through every part of the game, from how you approach dialogue to how you survive encounters and shape your beliefs. Roadwarden’s low-fantasy setting is rich with detail, pairing text-based storytelling with isometric pixel art, RPG systems, and adventure mechanics to create a distinctive hybrid experience.

The game has been praised by critics since its original release. Eurogamer called it “one of the finest historical fantasies you’ll play,” while The Escapist declared that “Roadwarden is more Witcher than The Witcher.” That reception reflects how the game combines immersive writing with meaningful player choice, delivering an experience that feels as expansive as it is personal. The trailer for the Nintendo Switch launch showcases the best elements of the game.

Roadwarden is now available globally on Nintendo Switch, with Korean release plans set to follow. The game is also playable on PC, and with this new launch, Assemble Entertainment and Moral Anxiety Studio continue to expand their reach. For players ready to step into a dangerous peninsula full of secrets and moral dilemmas, the road awaits.
