Rick and Morty Simulation: Virtual Rick-ality Announced, Coming Soon To HTC Vive

Have you ever wondered what it was like to be a sixty-year-old alcoholic or his fourteen-year-old grandson as they travel across the universe? Well, the good people over at Owlchemy Labs along with Adult Swim Games and Rick and Morty‘s creator Justin Roiland are about to give you the opportunity.

Rick and Morty is an incredibly popular animated show on Adult Swim written by Dan Harmon, of Community fame, and Justin Roiland. The show focuses on the adventures of Rick Sanchez and his grandson Morty Smith as they travel across the universe. If you are a fan of Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy or Harmon’s other project Community, then this show is definitely worth a look.

The game is called Rick and Morty Simulation: Virtual Rick-ality, and it puts players in the shoes of either Rick or Morty, the teaser below is unclear, and you can explore a fully 3D version of Rick’s garage. Everything looks just as it does in the show. In the trailer, you can see the player messing with a plumbus, featured in the second inter-dimensional cable special, a Krombopulos Michael business card, and a Mr.Meeseeks box.

It’s unclear what else players will be able to do in the game, but in Owlchemy Labs’ blog post about the game they did say that would be able to go through portals in VR.

Spoiler alert: you can totally jump through portals in VR!

If you’re wondering why the name Owlchemy Labs sounds familiar; the studio also created another popular VR title, Job Simulator. By the looks of the teaser, Virtual Rick-ality will be a lot like that title. In Job Simulator, players are let loose in job simulations and tasked with completing a set of remedial jobs, although most people just play around with the stuff in the room.

Working on a Rick and Morty game is a dream project for the studio, and they’ve been working in secret for months on the game.

We’ve been working in secret for months, optimizing plumbus physics and working on the intricacies of Rick’s flask. Now we’re ready to give you all a hint of what’s to come…This is truly a dream project for us. We’ve been huge fans of the franchise since the beginning…

The game doesn’t currently have a release date, but it will come out on PC for the HTC Vive.

If you are itching to get your hands on the game Owlchemy Labs said that the game would be playable at San Diego Comic-Con coming up next weekend.
