RGG Summit Summer 2023 Announced, Slated for June 16

It looks like yet another major player in the video game industry has thrown in their hat for an already very busy June. SEGA and developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have jointly announced the annual RGG Summit Summer 2023, also known as the Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio New Titles Presentation. During this event, the studio will give us updates on projects relating to the Like Dragon (Yakuza) franchise. This will more than likely have an emphasis on two specific projects, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name and Like a Dragon 8, both of which were revealed during last year’s presentation.

The event will take place on June 16th at 8:00 PM PST/11:00 PM EST, or if you’re in Japan, June 17 at 12:00 PM. It will be livestreamed on the studio’s official YouTube Channel which is already set up with special page when it goes live. As we already mentioned, the RGG Summit Summer 2023 will most likely go over two of the previously aforementioned announced IP’s. Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name will pertain to the series’ former protagonist, Kazuma Kiryu, and what happened to him in between Yakuza 6: The Song of Life and leading up to the other upcoming title Like a Dragon 8. The latter will see the return of protagonist Ichiban Kasuga from Yakuza 7: Like a Dragon, and will retain the turn based RPG that was introduced in the previous entry.

As we already mentioned, the RGG Summit Summer 2023 is just one of many different video game presentations that will take place during the month of June. Arguably the biggest one is Geoff Keighly’s Summer Game Fest 2023, which is set to have who’s who of video game giants making presentations across the entire event next week on June 8. Ubisoft will be having their Ubisoft Forward event on June 12, while Microsoft will host both the Xbox Games Showcase and the Starfield Direct on June 11 as double feature. Of course, we also can’t forget the Digital Devolver Direct 2023 which is slated for the same month.
