Resident Evil Gets a Theme Park Attraction in Universal Studios Japan

It is no secret that some video game characters and IPs are iconic to a point that they are recognized at a global level. These IPs, like Mario or Pokemon, are obvious picks being family-friendly G-rated games, but who would have guessed that an M-rated horror game like Resident Evil would slowly be creeping up the list to the point where they are getting an attraction at Universal Studios?

Now, as stated above this will only be an event in the Universal Studios location in Osaka, Japan, but that is still a huge indication of just how popular Capcom’s iconic horror franchise has become. Dubbed Biohazard: Night of Heroes, lucky participants will be able to join popular Resident Evil characters like Leon Kennedy, Jill Valentine, and Chris and Claire Redfield in a horror-filled zombie nightmare.

The Japanese will have the time of their lives fighting off zombies, lickers, likely some tyrants as well as they fight through an Umbrella facility alongside the iconic Resident Evil heroes. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that Japan is basically the father nation of video games, and absolutely love their video games. Square Enix’s Dragon Quest has its own dedicated theme park and is such a cultural cornerstone that any Japanese citizen can easily recognize the series.

And it sure is something that Resident Evil is getting something along those lines, definitely an indication of just how popular the horror series is. The Universal Studio Resident Evil event will last from September 6th to November 4th this year, so the perfect time to get into that Halloween holiday spirit before gunning down some zombies. If you’re lucky enough to be vacationing in Osaka, Japan around that time be sure to give this attraction a look, and with a new Resident Evil game likely on the horizon, the timing couldn’t be better!

Derek Lairmore: I've been playing video games and writing my entire life, so naturally I decided to combine the two passions. I love video games and video game culture, as far back as I can remember I've not only played them, I've actively participated in their communities. I hope my history in this hobby and my enthusiasm for writing helps me convey news to you accurately and succinctly.
