In keeping with the series tradition, Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 Remake is looking to expand its horizons beyond the expected platforms, and will be available on iPhone 15 Pro models and all iPads and Macs with M-series chips.
That’s right, you can now take super agent Leon Kennedy through his journey of superkicking ganados on his way to save the president’s daughter while you’re on the bus, the train, or the can. The entire game is available on the app store right now and to celebrate the occasion as well as the Christmas season it’s at a generous 50% off. That’s right, you can play through the entire game right now for only $29.99, which is a bit of a steal. Don’t worry if you’re hesitant, however, if you want to test how the game actually plays then you can play a demo version for free, also available on the app store.
The port should be relatively smooth, however, as it uses MetalFX Upscaling to ensure that the experience on your iPhone or iPad is up to par in both graphic fidelity and performance. If you like what you see then you don’t have to stop at just playing Resident Evil 4 Remake, as its expansion Separate Ways is also available for all the aforementioned platforms. You can take control of Ada Wong as she embarks on her own journey concurrent to Leon’s in the main campaign, and if you own multiple Apple products then don’t worry as save progress will transfer between devices so long as your account is logged in to all of them.
It is a bit of a meme in the gaming community that the original Resident Evil 4 is available for everything from microwaves to refrigerators (and it will likely be ported to any newer consoles and platforms in the future for a long time to come) so it’s nice to see that Resident Evil 4‘s remake is following in its ancestors traditions, bringing horror to even the most unlikely of places. The ability to play a current day AAA game on your phone is just a testament to how insane progress in technology has come in terms of compressing experiences for all platforms, and I hope any Apple brand users will enjoy their romp through this recreation of an old classic.
