Early this morning, Capcom announced that their titan survival horror series most recent games (Resident Evil 4, 5, and 6) will receive an updated re-release on both the Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
Promptly afterwards, fans squealed with glee. (Or at least I did.)
…the series and story have evolved to amp up the action and introduce new epic gaming moments with Resident Evil 4, 5 and 6.
Since 2016 marks the 20th anniversary since the series flagship game launched in Japan (back in 1996), Capcom has been steadily producing updated versions of their games. Resident Evil and Resident Evil 0 already made their debut, and it appears RE4, 5, and 6 will be given similar treatment.
Capcom reassured fans via their website that an RE2 release is imminent. We need only be patient.
The re-release kicks off by working its way backwards, starting with RE6 on March 29th, working its way back to RE4 in Autumn of 2016 (perhaps foreshadowing for a Halloween themed launch?).
Each game will be priced for purchase at $20 USD.
With the RE6 release, fans will have access to all of its previous DLCs, costumes, and so on. Via their website, Capcom announced:
Extra good news for everyone – the upcoming release will also include all the additional post-launch content from the console version (DLC and all the costumes originally only available through ResidentEvil.net).
A physical disc release was also announced for all three games in America–no word yet if they are planning a physical release in other regions, or not.
While RE6 did not pan out exceptionally well on its initial release (nor did RE5 for that matter, but it seems to have at least held up over the years), we can look forward to all three of the most recent RE titles re-release this year.
Mark your calendars for March 29th, next month!
