It looks like PlatinumGames and Microsoft might not be done with Scalebound after all. According to XboxEra’s Shpeshal_Nick on his recent podcast, the developer and the company are working together to revive the canceled title. According to his source, the talks are still in the very early stages, and the scale of the revival are currently unknown. It’s important to note that this is not a confirmation of the game coming back, only that it is being talked about between both parties as a potential revisit, or even a new project to try all over again.
Speculation:
According to @Shpeshal_Nick from Xboxera, Xbox could be in talks with PlatinumGames to revive the canned Xbox exclusive ‘Scalebound’

According to Shpeshal_Nick, PlatinumGames and Microsoft are still in “very early discussions” in regard to Scalebound. As we mentioned earlier, the discussions between the two are mostly in regard to two potential options. Either they attempt to continue from where they left off when it was originally canceled, or start over from scratch, essentially making it a brand new project. Considering the amount of time and money already invested into the IP, the likelihood of Microsoft giving the name to Platinum is very low, meaning that the two aforementioned options are the more desired ventures for the company.
The cancelation of Scalebound back in 2017 was an unfortunate end to what was initially a very exciting prospect. Scalebound would’ve had the player take control of the protagonist, Drew, who would travel through the world of the Draconis, a world filled to the brim with dragons. Drew also had his own dragon companion, Thuban, who was bonded with Drew. Due to this symbiosis, if Drew died in battle, then Thuban would follow suit and vice versa. If anything were to move forward in this endeavor, then the final word is up to Microsoft. On top of that, it would be a very very long time until we would see anything substantial in terms of gameplay, reveals, or even leaks.
