It looks like consoles and PC parts aren’t the only things being affected by the global supply disruptions. Microsoft has confirmed with Video Game Chronicles that they are experiencing major shortage of Xbox controllers. This is apparently being felt across the globe, but as Video Game Chronicles shows in a Resetera post, European countries are being affected the most in this situation. Specific areas such as France, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom seem to be seeing the worst of it, while Australia is also having issues with supply.
According to the post, the controller shortage is also severely affecting many European retail chains. This includes GAME, Smyths, Argos, Currys, and even the Microsoft Store itself. Microsoft made a statement with Video Game Chronicles as well saying that this issue has to do with the aforementioned supply shortage. “We know it may be hard finding Xbox Wireless Controllers right now due to supply disruptions. We’re working as fast as possible with our manufacturing and retail partners to improve this. Please check with your local retailer for availability.” Unfortunately, those retailers, for the time being, don’t seem to have any in stock with the exception of Amazon who has third-party sellers that are making some stock available, for a different price of course.
The Xbox Design Lab, which is where you can make custom-colored/themed controllers, still appears to be taking orders for new controllers. Keep in mind that this service usually has a long turnaround, somewhere between two weeks and a month, as they create the design’s to your exact specifications. Regardless, this is an alternative option if you’re in need of a new controller, and if you don’t mind the fairly long wait time. As for the United States, stock still seems to be readily available, but just like in Europe, that could change at a moment’s notice. Hopefully, Microsoft is able to resupply those stores soon.
