In a rather unexpected turn of events, it appears that Quantic Dream’s second game, Fahrenheit, or Indigo Prophecy as it was titled in North America, will be getting a remastered version that’s due for release next week.
The news comes from a user on NeoGAF who noticed the listing on Amazon, and without any official announcement from Quantic Dream.
According to the Amazon product page, the remastered version of Indigo Prophecy will feature updated HD graphics “meticulously recreated in HD for mobile and desktop” that can be alternated between the original graphics instantly at the push of a button. Full controller support for both Microsoft and Sony products will be available as well.
Additionally, the game will feature content that was cut from the original release, such as a sex scene and a shower scene that, rather ridiculously, was censored by having the woman in question wear a bikini while showering. It isn’t known what other content was cut from the original release.
Indigo Prophecy was released in 2005 for the PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC. A paranormal adventure thriller, the game featured numerous features that would become staples in future Quantic Dream games, such as multiple endings, an unparalleled level of interactivity, dialogue options and cinematic storytelling.
Although it won praise for its immersive storytelling, Indigo Prophecy drew plenty of flak for its end-game, which contrasted sharply in terms of overall quality from the rest of the game and was severely lacking in coherence. It was later rumored that the studio, pressed for time, had to severely truncate the final act of the game to meet the deadline. It’s unlikely that the remastered edition will address this issue.
At any rate, Indigo Prophecy Remastered will be available on January 29 for $9.99 on the PC and Mac.
