Remake ‘Sword Of The Necromancer: Resurrection’ Announced For January 2025 Release Date

Developer Grimorio of Games has announced a 3D remake of their original action rogue-like dungeon crawler Sword of the Necromancer. The remake has been titled Sword of the Necromancer: Resurrection and will launch for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC on January 23 2025.

In Sword of the Necromancer: Resurrection you’ll take on the role of Tama, a bandit who’s reformed her life, becoming a bodyguard whose goal is now to resurrect her deceased lover Koko using the ‘Sword of the Necromancer’. Gematsu reports that while much of the game is recreated faithfully, including its mechanics, the game is brought to a modern standard while introducing new character focused cinematics.

Sword of Necromancer: Resurrection gameplay can be characterized by dungeon exploration  with a newly designed combat system; You’ll dodge and attack enemies. You can summon, program and resurrect creatures with the ‘Tactics’ System. Battle priorities of your creatures can be set from targeting enemies or using them for protection. Dungeons are procedurally generated creating a different experience each run. It has been confirmed that the game features the series ‘Rogue Lite’ mode.

An interview at Grinning Wolf Games with Designer Victor Pedrendo of Grimorio of Games shared about the decision to develop Sword of the Necromancer: Resurrection “After the original and it’s free DLC/Update in 2021, we started working on it’s sequel, Sword of the Necromancer: Revenant. Resurrection was originally planned as a DLC for Revenant(To be developed after Revenant’s release) But the current situation in the games industry and difficulties in getting a publisher that helps us finish Revenant made us pivot the development. So we took all the systems we had developed for the sequel and used them for this remake and decided to release it before…”

The release date is drawing close and could be an enticing release for fans following this holiday season.
