Late last week I covered the fighting game guide to Arc System Works’ latest project, a collaborative project with Marvel Comics in the form of Marvel TOKON: Fighting Souls, and if that fighting game guide got you hungry to try out the game for yourself then you are in luck! Because Tokon’s closed beta is coming to PlayStation 5 from September 5-7 2025.
Closed betas for fighting games are mainly to test the online functionality and UI, various things for feedback so that they can tweak them before release, so keep in mind that if you do get in for the closed beta you’ll be playing a very stripped down version of a demo let alone the actual full game. Of course, closed betas also function as an early access demo (lame as that sounds) and those who get in can get some new footage of characters or cutscenes or combos if they want.
Of course, with fighting games most players want to jump into closed betas to get ahead of the competition, unlocking new tech and discovering typical weaknesses before the full release so they can use that knowledge during the first days of ranked or even at tournaments, but that’s the way things go these days, and we also have the benefit of social media and Discords to accumulate knowledge on most things discovered anyway, thankfully.
But that’s just competitive hogwash, most people just want to play Iron Man and shoot lasers at Captain America, and any amount of gameplay and footage from the closed beta will be sure to make waves. If you are interested in participating in this closed beta and own a PlayStation 5 then be sure to register here and be sure to take some cool screenshots of Dr. Doom’s win pose for my Pinterest.
