Red Riding Hood looks to have her revenge, and Indie studio GRIN today has released a new video ahead of Gamescom 2014, which reveals the darker side to fairytales in their game, Woolfe: The Red Hood Diaries. GRIN has launched onto Kickstarter in order to get funding and give Woolfe: The Red Hood Diaries a boost and take it to the next level. It will be coming to PC during the first quarter of 2015, and will be coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in quarter 2 of 2015.
Indie studio based in Belgium, GRIN has shown a trailer that has the origins of how the Woolfe was created, and that was the help from games developer Davy Penassae, who was applying for a job as a 3D artist, two years ago. “Whilst Penasse was unsuccessful in securing that position, the team at GRIN were blown away by a short 3D demo at the end of Penasse’s portfolio. Featuring a stylised Red Riding Hood character attacked by evil living trees in a dark enchanted forest environment, this 10-second clip became the starting point of what would eventually become Woolfe: The Red Hood Diaries.”
Follow the original story of Little Red Riding Hood, while it takes a bit of a turn compared to other various forms that have been told since the 10th Century. Woolfe goes beyond on a modern fairy tale and goes towards industrial greed, murder, and a dark fantasy revenge. Red has experienced many things, but this time it has gone to far, this time her father has died, and it’s time for her to put on that red cape, pick up her axe and face against the evil B.B. Woolfe, CEO of Woolfe Industries.

With the help of the Kickstarter, GRIN will be able to add “new features and mechanics, including magical powers for Red that would compliment her current melee combat abilities.” The goal for the campaign is set for $50,000 and an end date of September 4th, with a current funding of $9,910 and 460 backers. Those who back and help out with the campaign will get to customize their own Toy Soldier, which is part of the robot army that was hired by B.B. Woolfe, and they help him with demanding that everyone should follow his iron rule.
