One of the most anticipated video games coming out this year is Red Dead Redemption 2, the sequel to the hit 2010 open world western. Its also one of the games Microsoft plans to use to show off the true power of the Project Scorpio. While not much has been seen from the game, besides a trailer, many hope the upcoming E3 will give fans something new to sink their teeth into.
For those who can’t wait that long, there’s some good news. An anonymous user has posted an image on the GTA Forums. The image has no caption or description, other than the thread being titled “Something interesting.” The image is a screenshot that was taken off-screen, so the colors are a bit off, but it does look an awful lot like Red Dead Redemption 2.
This isn’t the first time screenshots of an upcoming Rockstar game have found their way onto the GTA Forums. A screenshot of the submersible from Grand Theft Auto V originally leaked there back in May 2013.
There are some skeptics on the forums, though, that don’t believe this screenshot to actually be from Red Dead Redemption 2. Some suggest that it could come from the Red Dead Redemption mod that was being made for (and subsequently shut down) for Grand Theft Auto V. However, this screenshot does not have a map icon like the original game had, making it unlikely to come from the mod.
There’s also the theory that it might be a fake made in Photoshop. User Yan2295 reportedly messed around with the screenshot in Photoshop and noticed something particular about the area surrounding the church. He does admit he’s not an expert at spotting fakes, though, so take it with a grain of salt.
Whatever the case may be, fans will be sure to get an answer eventually, seeing that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be releasing sometime this year.
