Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Confirmed To Be A PlayStation 5 Exclusive

When Sony announced that the release date for the PlayStation 5 in September, they also revealed that some games for the PS5 will also be coming to the PlayStation 4 such as Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, and Horizon Forbidden West. Each of these games will have a free upgrade for both the Digital Edition and the Standard version of the PlayStation 5. Another notable game that was revealed with the PlayStation 5 was Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. No word was given if this would also be coming to both PlayStation consoles until now as Insomniac Games confirmed that the next entry in the Ratchet & Clank series will be a PlayStation 5 exclusive.

After seeing the game in action and Insomniac Games talking about how they are utilizing PlayStation 5’s Ultra High-Speed SSD, this news seems to make sense. If Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was coming to the PlayStation 4, there would have probably been some loading screens or times that would have altered the experience that Insomniac Games may be going for. Alongside using PS5’s Ultra High-Speed SSD, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will take advantage of the DualSense controller with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers that will make each weapon feel unique and distinct.

Prior to Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Insomniac Games will be releasing Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales with the launch of the PlayStation 5 on November 12. The game will focus on Miles Morales and his transition to becoming his own Spider-Man. Recently, Miles Morales’s Into The Spider-Verse suit was announced as one of the suits that players can choose from. In addition to Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Miles Morales, Insomniac Games also remastered Marvel’s Spider-Man. The game is only available as part of the Ultimate Edition of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will be released in the launch window of the PlayStation 5.
