Back in January 2, 2018, FrostWood Interactive put up a free demo on itch.io titled Rainswept. It gained an overwhelmingly positive support and praise from those who played it, as well as garnering a few Youtube playthroughs of the demo. The developers had an announcement up on the Steam page for the game, as they planned on doing weekly updates so that it could start working towards the final release.
Since then, FrostWood Interactive began developing the title, and the changes and additions were shown through their screenshots of all the basic and intense alterations in the game. The initial goal was to have it be released by the end of 2018. But with a few more tweaks, and a little bit more setbacks, the game won’t be launching until 2019. And with the new release date, a new trailer comes with it:
In Rainswept, players follow Detective Michael Stone in the small town of Pineview to help with a rather simple murder case. A couple is found dead in their home, speculated to be a case of murder-suicide due to the couple’s consistent fighting and feuds. On the case, Detective Stone gets a partner by the name of Officer Blunt, to help figure out what had happened in the couple’s untimely deaths. Though, in the description of the game, player are warned as “the further he pursues the case, the more his own past shall come back to haunt him. And the closer his own sanity will be pushed to the edge.”
The game is described as an adventure murder-mystery with themes of love, relationships, and unresolved trauma. It lends itself into an atmospheric world, where each character has their own distinctive history, motive, and personality. And it is very possible that there could be something more sinister involved with this case, given the warning prior.
Rainswept is set to come out on February 1, 2019. It will be available on PC only, and is currently up to put on a wishlist on its Steam page. Check out the official website as well for more updates and information.
