Publisher Nordic Games and Development team Rainbow Studios have announced today that the former East Coast 250 Supercross Champion Stephane Roncada will be joining the Phoenix based development team. Roncada will bring both his pro racer championship skills and game designer skills into one for this partnership with Rainbow Studios. Roncada is known to have been a Kawasaki rider and he started working in the video game industry 15 years ago, which one of the games was the original MX vs. ATV games. You can pre-order MX vs. ATV Supercross on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC (Encore Edition), with a scheduled release date of October 7th for $29.99. (Update 9/12: Release date has been pushed to October 28th)
“I’m thrilled to return to the MX vs. ATV team at Rainbow Studios,” Roncada said. “I enjoy making video games tremendously, but to have the opportunity to develop motocross games again is extra special. It gives me the opportunity to bring what I found most fun and exciting about real racing to many people at home, who might not have the opportunity to race Supercross for real.”
The features that players will experience in MX vs. ATV Supercross, includes the following:
- 17 Supercross Tracks for both MX and ATV riding
- Career mode with 5 series (250 East, 250 West, 450 MX, 450 ATV, 450 MX vs. ATV)
- More than 80 licensed motocross companies in the game to ensure authenticity
- Over 60 professional riders licensed to race against
- New improved physics and control system including reinterpreting the fan favorite “pre-load” from classic MX vs ATV games
- Multiplayer with up to 12 players
- Splitscreen Mode for local 2 players’ racing excitement
- Free Practice Mode; in this mode you can practice every track alone, via splitscreen, or online with up to 12 of your racing buddies; use this mode to practice every track to perfection and/or perform the craziest stunts with freely selectable spawn-points and without timekeeping/hay bales/AI-opponents
- Motoclub Depot for regular content updates
The Studio head and MX vs. ATV Supercross Executive Producer Ken George also mentioned, “We are very excited for ‘Ron Ron’ to join our design team of former Rainbow Studios developers, designers and artists.
