It looks like Ubisoft finally has a concrete name set in for the next iteration in the Rainbow Six franchise. What was previously known as Rainbow Six Quarantine is now officially known as Rainbow Six Extraction. Along with this new name, Ubisoft has also released a brand new trailer and some brief information to boot. The company is also planning on showing us some brand new gameplay next week during their Ubisoft Forward event which itself is part of E3 2021.

According to Ubisoft, Rainbow Six Extraction is about a parasite that has taken over a laboratory and can evolve to its environments and surroundings. The main objective of you and your squad is the game’s very namesake, extract out of the laboratory and escape the parasite. The game is expected to play similarly to Rainbow Six Siege, only without the player versus player element and more of a Left 4 Dead-style instead. As we already mentioned, Ubisoft will be premiering the gameplay during their Ubisoft Forward event on June 12 at 12:00 pm PDT/2:00 pm EDT.
Rainbow Six Extraction was originally unveiled at E3 2019, where it was known by the aforementioned name of Quarantine. Initially given a 2020 release time frame, the game was delayed, along with Far Cry 6, until sometime in 2021 due to the worldwide effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic. While the latter has since been given a release date of October 7, we still don’t have a specific launch date for the former. Hopefully, Ubisoft will have such information ready to go when E3 2021 arrives.
The Ubisoft Forward will commence on Saturday, June 12, at 12:00 pm PDT/2:00 pm EDT, the first official day of E3 2021. We also have the Summer Game Fest on June 10, just two days before that, and we wouldn’t be surprised if Ubisoft has some surprises for us on that day as well.
