Quake Champions Will Open Beta to Everyone for Large-Scale Tech Test

If you’ve been waiting on your invite to join the Quake Champions closed beta, your time, it seems, has come.

Bethesda announced today that Quake Champions will be holding a “Large-Scale Tech Test” starting later this week, which will open the game up to more players than ever before.

The Large-Scale Tech Test will run from this Friday, May 12th, all the way through Sunday May 21st, during which the game will be open to anyone and everyone who wants to play.  The game will be running live around the clock every day, as opposed to the previous weekends-only structure, giving players nine full days to try out the game.

During the tech test, players will be able to access the entirety of the game as it exists so far, playing as all released characters on every map the game has to offer.  The tech test will also introduce a brand new game mode, called Sacrifice.  While we don’t know all the details of how Sacrifice will differ from existing game modes, Bethesda has shared that it is a competitive team-based 4v4 mode, that requires players to “pick Champions wisely and and work together to dominate the Arena in this new mode.”

Perhaps of most note in the test’s announcement, though, is that the beginning of the test on May 12 will also mark the end of the existing player NDA, meaning that players will be able to freely share information and gameplay footage from their time in-game.  So, starting May 12, look for loads of Quake Champions videos and streams to start hitting the web.
