Developer Playdew has released a new release date trailer confirming the launch date of their side-scrolling puzzle adventure sequel Lost Twins II. Gematsu reports that the title is set for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on August 14.
Lost Twins II is set in a whimsical playground.. According to the developer of the setting, it is a result of an art style inspired by Miyazaki. Players will assume the role of two twin siblings named Abi and Ben with the shared goal of finding their way home.
Lost Twins II features a signature sliding puzzle where players will slide and swap tiles to create new paths and solve puzzles. Puzzles also include mechanics such as pressure switches, water gates, breakable domes, lifts, elevators. Players can swap between Abi and Ben or work together to overcome obstacles. Cooperative play is included in local couch co-op. Developer Playdew boast an original musical score that is “thematic to complement the art style”
Thinky Games‘ Hira interviewed Playdew Senior Engineer Muhammad Momin, Growth and Partnerships Manager Urooj, and Sajjad Saleem, who is in charge of the audio, UI, control mechanisms and preliminary console porting. Hira asked how they approached making the game accessible to children and adults, the Playdew team responded “The art style is one such facet of appealing to all ages — we included colorful drawings to appeal to kids and to evoke a sense of nostalgia in adults. You can simply kick back and play this game after a long day. The main challenge we faced was to balance difficulty with anti-frustration features to make it accessible for children and adults.”
With its unique sliding puzzle mechanics and charming Miyazaki-inspired art style, Lost Twins II may aim to provide a relaxing and accessible adventure for players young and old next month.
