Near the end of 2020 console players saw Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 arrive, but PC players were sadly left out. Thankfully, soon that will be remedied as Sega recently announced that the popular puzzle adventure sequel will be coming to Steam in late March. The PC version will include all the features that the consoles have, the most important of which is the online functionality.
Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 is the next edition in the series after its predecessor came out in Japan in early 2014. It combines two popular puzzle series, Poyo Puyo and Tetris, into one game. While Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 has all the exciting puzzle actions fans already know and love, this sequel has a new map to explore in Adventure Mode with a brand-new story following the characters as they attempt to rescue others from a dark corruption. Another new aspect is the Skill Battle mode where character skills can have an effect on player’s match “from recovering HP to changing the color of Puyos to erasing Lines, and more.” While players can conquer this game alone, as mentioned briefly above, it also supports local and online co-op as well as competitive puzzle leagues. Sega introduced some new playable characters such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Ms. Accord, Lidelle, and The Ocean Prince. And new players do not have to worry as Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 has over 150 interactive tutorials to get up to speed on puzzle mechanics and strategies.
Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 is already available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/X. For eagerly awaiting PC players, they can get their hands on Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 on March 23 for $30 USD. In addition, Sega has a limited-time launch edition which will give players a pack of rare Item Cards, some of which include items from the notorious Sonic the Hedgehog series.
