Developers Double Fine released a new Psychonauts 2 trailer that focuses solely on the sequel’s storyline. In the trailer, we see that the main character Raz will be facing one of the biggest threats in Psychonauts history, making his first day at the Psychonauts’ base absolutely chaotic. This trailer differs a lot from the first one we got back in June at E3. For example, the June trailer’s main premise centered around the sequel’s gameplay, levels, and stakes Raz would be facing, while the updated story-focused sneak peek gives players a better explanation of how Raz got to the original Psychonauts base, how the Psychonauts became a group, and how the Psychonauts ultimately come to an end.
On Raz’s first day as a mental investigator at the Psychonauts’ base, a villain named Maligula resurges after being declared dead for 20 years. The trailer shows us that this resurgence might have not been a coincidence and could have been done by someone at the Psychonauts’ base, an inside job. Raz will then have to explore unique minds to solve the mystery surrounding Maligula’s return and the culprit who could possibly be in cahoots with the evil villain. This will not be easy as Raz doesn’t know who he can trust as everyone at the base could be a possible suspect. Raz will not be alone in this sequel though, his entire circus family will be joining him on this mission. It is still unknown as to what kind of abilities his family has, or if they will be valuable team members to help Raz defeat Maligula.
Gear up to use your “Psi-Powers” such as telekinesis, pyrokinesis, and levitation as the newly graduated Psychonaut Raz. This highly anticipated game, which had a series of delays, is just about to launch on August 25 for PS4, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
