PS VR Spotlight Recap: After the Fall, Zenith, Doom 3 VR Edition and more

Today PlayStation presented their PS VR Spotlight, a reveal event meant to announce upcoming games that are coming to the PlayStation VR. This is coming after they recently announced the development of a new next-generation VR system for the PlayStation 5. However, all six of the new games announced during the PS VR Spotlight will be available for the current PS VR system later this year.

After the Fall is a cooperative VR shooter that takes place in an alternate version of 1980’s Los Angeles. In the game players will work together to eliminate hordes of ferocious undead creatures know as the Snowbreed. A new gameplay trailer for the game has also been announced and will be revealed in the next few weeks.

Zenith is a VR MMO set in a world with a variety of environments including forests, beaches, and a futuristic city. The game is ambitious in that it will feature free movement where players are able to climb and glide off of structures in the environment similar to games such as Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Genshin Impact. Players will master both blades and magic to defeat enemies and conquer the game’s dungeons.

I Expect You To Die 2: The Spy And The Liar is the sequel to 2016’s I Expect You To Die. In the game, you take on the role of a secret agent placed into a series of death traps. Players will examine and use various objects within the levels in order to deactivate traps and avoid death.

In Fracked players are stuck in a mountain fracking facility that has been taken over by beings known as the Fracked. Players will run, ski, and zip-line across the facility while using gunplay and grabbable cover to eliminate the enemies in their way.

Song in the Smoke is a VR survival game where players will have to gather, craft, and hunt in order to survive in a harsh primal environment.  Using what crude tools and resources you have, you will have to fend off both the elements and the predators waiting to make you their meal.

Doom 3: VR Edition was the last game announced and is a remade version of Doom 3 for the PlayStation VR. The game will feature all Doom 3 content including its expansions Resurrection of Evil and The Lost Mission. New textures, shaders, and sound effects have been added to enhance the experience in VR.
