Well this was a shocker. At Sony’s pre-TGS conference yesterday in Tokyo, a new piece of hardware was shown – the PlayStation Vita TV.

The PS Vita TV is the smallest device Sony has made for their PlayStation brand ever. At 6.5cm x 10.5cm, it’s about the size of a standard deck of playing cards. So what does the PS Vita TV do? Quite a lot. Here is a quick rundown:
PS Vita games on your TV
The PS Vita TV has a small slot for your PS Vita games. This will allow PS Vita owners the ability to play all of their Vita games on their big HD screens in an easy and fluid fashion and with a Dualshock 4 controller.
PSP and PS One Classics on your TV
A slot for memory card compatible games will allow you play all of your old PSP and PS One classics through the device and on your television on a Dualshock 4.
Hulu and other video services
It acts as a streaming device for television services such as Hulu. More were not mentioned but one can safely assume the likes of Netflix, Amazon, and others will soon be announced.
PS4 remote play hub
This is by far the biggest selling point of the device. This little box allows you to remote play any of your PS4 enabled titles. In the brief video demo shown, people were watching television so the kids turned the PS4 on and began remote playing upstairs on a separate television. Because of Sony’s $380 million acquisition of Gakai you can expect much bigger things in the future. Imagine being able to play remotely anywhere in the world with your PS Vita TV at your side.
