Ahead of the official Destiny: Rise of Iron release next week, Activision and Bungie have worked together to finally get Private Matches for Destiny – the first time since its release two years ago. The long awaited mode is now available for both Xbox One and PS4 consoles as of yesterday.
According to Kotaku, players of Destiny have already began playing their multiplayer mode for the couple of years that the game has already been out, but with this mode, players have to stick to the rules of maps’ default settings. However, with private matches, gamers will not only introduce options for mode, map, time limits, score limits, light levels, and time of day (possibly even the option to play alone). Essentially, players will now be given the opportunity to fully customize their Crucible experience.
Below is five minute gameplay from private matches that YouTuber Datto released:
Private matches are a huge addition to the game, allowing players to use the new mode to train. Gamers can practice skirmishes, or coordinate formations, which can come in handy when playing competitive events. It will also allow players to test their weapons. You don’t need to own the new Rise of Iron game to get the new private matches update, but you will need to own an Xbox One or a PS4. Bungie has stated that, due to the decade old hardware, they will not be releasing the update on the Xbox 360 or the PS3.
The update comes just a few days ahead of the official release of Destiny: Rise of Iron, which will be released to gamers on September 20th. Rise of Iron will also be getting private matches. If you already own Destiny for Xbox One or PS4, the update will be free so while you wait for the 20th to arrive, you can dip into the new feature right now.
