Squanchtendo, the VR studio formed by Rick and Morty creator Justin Roiland and former Epic vet Tanya Watson, won’t be wasting any time releasing a game.
The studio recently announced a new game called Accounting. The game is a collaborative effort between Justin Roiland and William Pugh, director of Crows Crows Crows and creator of The Stanley Parable. Not much is known about the game other than it will be free for everyone.
What makes this game different, besides the comedic talent behind it, is how the whole thing started.
During an interview with Road To VR, Roiland recounted how their meeting was founded on a lie. Roiland was on a tour of a building when he realized that Titanfall developers Respawn worked in the same place and wanting to meet someone he sent out a tweet asking if anyone worked at the studio.
Pugh saw the tweet and responded saying that he worked for Respawn despite running Crows Crows Crows.
Roiland then asked if the two could meet up which would be kind of difficult considering Pugh lives in the UK. It was then that Pugh had to come clean, but not before trying to find someone from Respawn himself.
Later Roiland found out who Pugh actually was and decided that it would be an even better match.
Accounting doesn’t have a release date yet, but when it comes out it will be a Vive exclusive title. Currently, Roiland and his team are shopping around an IP for an action-RPG, again, no details were shared.
