Back in September, Ubisoft confirmed a well-known rumor during their Ubisoft Forward event when they revealed the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. The announcement was well-received, as fans of the mostly dormant franchise consider this entry to be the best in the series. Unfortunately, those fans will have to wait just a little bit longer, as Ubisoft has announced in a tweet that the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake has been delayed until March 18, 2021. The title was originally slated for January 2021, but it looks like the company needs just a little more time to work on it.
As you can see in the tweet above, Ubisoft states that “2020 has been a year like no other. Today we wanted to let you know that we are taking additional time to work on the game.” While they don’t directly mention this, it’s more than likely that the company’s development on the title has been hampered by the world wide effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Ubisoft isn’t the only company that has had to delay or cancel projects this year, and it’s also heavily impacted in-person events such as E3 2020.
As for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, the wait has only been extended by a couple of months. Judging from what we’ve seen in the initial trailer, it will be worth the wait. Despite this minor setback, Ubisoft has been very successful in this quarter, specifically with the worldwide release of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which had the biggest launch in franchise history. The company also announced release date for the long-awaited Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game Complete Edition, January 14, 2021.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake will officially launch on March 18, 2021, for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
