President of From Software Confirms Two Upcoming Unannounced Titles

The Dark Souls franchise has long been a part of video gaming vernacular, with the games having catapulted the studio to prestige and commercial success. Known for its notoriously difficult combat mechanics and mercilessly challenging enemies, the term “Dark Souls of” has made it the de facto standard in which difficult video games are measured against.

Given its integrated place in the mainstream, From Software as a company has gained a massive following, able to generate hype with any given rumor or announcement. In a recent interview with Japanese gaming website 4Gamer.net as reported by Gematsu, president Hidetaka Miyazaki confirmed the ongoing development of two unannounced titles, part of the “3.5 product lineup” he mentioned in a 2016 interview.

Miyazaki revealed that these products are original titles, and not the already released Dark Souls Remastered and Devolver Digital’s Metal Wolf Chaos XD. Furthermore, of the four titles in the lineup, two are already known, the experimental VR game Déraciné and the upcoming Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

According to the Gematsu report, Miyazaki says the unannounced games will not be unveiled yet, as more time is needed before the company is ready to disclose any specific details. For now, gamers have Sekiro to look forward to and struggle through before From Software drops the difficulty hammer once again.

Miyazaki recently enjoyed critical success, as he received the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s Golden Joystick Award show. As for the acclaimed studio, Sekiro is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated titles of 2019 after its noteworthy reveal at Microsoft’s E3 conference, and will release March 22, 2019. It’s unclear whether the unknown titles will follow the same action-heavy combat style as Dark Souls or Sekiro, but whatever the case, the company has proven time and time again that its games are worth the wait.
