Developer Mob Entertainment has released an announcement trailer for their puzzle horror sequel Poppy Playtime: Chapter 4. Gematsu reports that the title will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on June 25.
Poppy Playtime: Chapter 4 is set in the abandoned Playtime Co. factory within the prison beneath the Playcare, resource and testing facilities. Players will once again assume the role of a former employee, set on investigating the disappearance of the staff a decade prior. On this mission of discovery players will encounter Poppy with the goal being to stop its sinister prototype.
Over at Game Rant, Mob Entertainment CEO Zach Belanger shared this about this installment’s villain “…the design takes every unique advantage of being a Poppy Playtime toy monster, from the material choice to the animation. Beyond that, fans can expect the highest quality, most stable, most optimized, and the best user experience of any of our games yet. We have done a lot of work to bring top talent into Mob, and the results of bringing in that talent are only just starting to take shape.”
Poppy Playtime: Chapter 4 features new characters and allies to the series which Mob Entertainment highlights will “guide your way, and haunt your nightmares.” Lore elements have been expanded as has gameplay, with environmental puzzles, timed puzzles, the new hook mechanic, and stealth integration. Previously inaccessible areas from the series including underground segments are present. The Grabpack receives the ‘Omni-Hand’ upgrade, players can break boards, bars, and use it for object manipulation.
Mob Entertainment’s intention with Poppy Playtime: Chapter 4 is to be their darkest, most technical title yet. Considering that the group has expanded greatly on their existing lore, fans on consoles may have something to look forward to come the end of this month.
