The Pokémon brand seems to reach out to every genre that exists. Tactical Strategy, Fighting games, Dungeon Crawlers, and now thanks to Pokémon Unite, MOBA’s as well. While it was announced back in June that Unite would be releasing in July on Nintendo Switch and later in the fall for mobile devices, we finally have an exact date.
In a tweet by the official Pokémon Unite Twitter account, it was announced that the release date for the Switch version of the game would be July 21st. The announcement also revealed that the mythical electric-type Pokémon Zeraora would be a part of the game’s roster. Players who log into the game before August 31 can unlock Zeraora for free. The official account assured fans in a follow-up tweet that mobile players would have a chance to get Zeraora as well, with details coming at a later date.
The trailer also showed off more new gameplay as well as the many customization options that players will have access to. Players will be able to customize their Pokémon with a variety of different outfits, and you can even customize your trainer to look however you please. With plenty of options, players can create a trainer that looks and plays just how they want in the Pokémon universe.
For those unaware, Pokémon Unite is a free-to-play MOBA where two teams of five face off against each other to take control over multiple points spread out across the map. The game was originally announced back in June 2020 as part of Pokémon Presents, and its release is now closer than ever. While the game is indeed coming to Switch, it will also be coming to iOS and Android devices for those without a console, allowing plenty of people to join in on the fun. With the release of New Pokémon Snap, and the upcoming releases of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, as well as Pokémon Legends: Arceus, there is plenty for gamers to look forward to.
