Ahead of this weekend’s Pokémon Go community day on Sunday, May 19, Niantic has announced their plans to hold week-long raid, called an Extraordinary Raid Week, for Pokémon Go players starting on Tuesday, May 21, at 1 PM PST. It’ll last until Tuesday, May 28.
The mobile game will offer various events throughout the Extraordinary Raid Week. Players will receive double the amount of Stardust and XP for participating in raids each day of the week. On Wednesday, May 22, there will be a special Raid Hour from 6 to 7 PM local time. During this hour, more raids will occur than usual. Days later, on Saturday, May 25, a Lapras Raid will occur from 11 AM to 2 PM local time everywhere, except for the Asia-Pacific region, where the Lapras Raid will occur on Sunday, May 26, 11 AM to 2 PM local time. During the special Lapras Raid, players can receive up to five Raid Passes from Gyms for free and may come across Shiny Lapras. Similarly, players may encounter one of the new tier one Raid Bosses, Bronzor, in its Shiny form, throughout the week.
New Pokémon will appear as Raid bosses in four of the five tiers, as listed on the Pokémon Go website:
Tier one: Machop, Slakoth, Shinx, Bronzor
Tier two: Misdreavus, Kirlia, Mawile, Feebas, Clamperl, Bibarel
Tier three: Alolan Raichu, Chansey, Scyther, Aerodactyl, Floatzel
Tier four: Alolan Marowak, Dragonite, Tyranitar, Absol, Metagross
The tier five raid bosses will remain the same as before: Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf. The player’s region will determine which of the three they encounter, as Azelf will continue to spawn in the Americas and Greenland, Mesprit in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, and Uxie in the Asia-Pacific region. Known to fans as the legendary lake trio, these three will be available in raid battles until May 27. After their raid event concludes, players can apparently encounter any of the three in the wild if they’re extremely lucky, regardless of region.
Though no new or previously seen legendary Pokémon are headlining this raid event, in contrast to past events, players can instead focus on stocking up on candies for Pokémon they may not normally encounter.
