Surviving Mars Adds in Green Planet DLC

Surviving Mars had come out mid March in 2018, and the game is designed around the age old question of: Can we colonize Mars? The answer, theoretically, is yes. And Surviving Mars goes into the plausible strategy and work that would be needed to get to that point. The community lives under domes to protect them from storms, and the incorrect atmosphere. But the game is titled exactly what the players would be doing, surviving. And not living. So developers Haemimont Games have been working on a new DLC for some time that goes into coming out of the dome, and starting to live on Mars. That being Surviving Mars: Green Planet:

The Green Planet DLC is all about terraforming the planet and shifting its atmospheric qualities to make the planet habitable without the need for the domes from the original game. But aside from atmosphere this terraforming also includes vegetation, water, and temperature. Players will be given a Planetary UI to see their progress on this on a planet scale.

With the vegetation aspect, players can now plant several specimens of lichen, shrubbery, trees, and more to begin change the Red planet Green. Each type of greenery affects different parts of growing quality. Such as the soil, types of seeds, and so on. Vegetation is also affected by certain building that players can construct that allow for boosted vegetation along with a Water Pump and a GHG factory.

The final thing that’s being added are the special projects. These include melting the polar ice caps, capturing ice meteoroids, and launching a space mirror. All of these can have beneficial effects for the colony. Though it is warned that terraforming the planet and doing these special projects may have some consequences as there are unexpected turns. Causing too many greenhouse gasses can cause acid rain which can reduce soil quality, or if an asteroid comes along that can cause a quake that puts a halt on production.

Surviving Mars: Green Planet DLC is currently available for purchase on PC, Xbox One, and PS4. However, Surviving Mars is having a Free Weekend currently with massively reduced prices on all of their products and DLC’s. Check out their website or their Steam for more information.
